Prostate Health

I am Dr.  R Okidi , a urologist at CHCC, a urological outpatient clinic in Gulu. I am writing to you today to inform you about the prostate care that we offer at our clinic.

The prostate is a small gland in men that is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum. It produces fluid that is part of semen. Prostate problems are common in men as they age. The most common prostate problems are benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer.

BPH is a condition in which the prostate gland enlarges. This can cause problems with urination, such as difficulty starting to urinate, a weak stream, and frequent urination. BPH is usually treated with medication, but surgery may be necessary in some cases.

Prostate cancer is a cancer that starts in the prostate gland. It is the most common cancer in men after skin cancer. Prostate cancer is usually slow-growing and can be successfully treated if it is caught early. Treatment for prostate cancer can include surgery, radiation therapy, and hormone therapy.

If you are a man, it is important to talk to your doctor about your prostate health. Your doctor can recommend screening tests for prostate cancer and can discuss treatment options for BPH and prostate cancer.

We offer a variety of services for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate problems at CHCC. These services include:

  • Prostate exams
  • Prostate biopsies
  • Treatment for BPH
  • Treatment for prostate cancer

We are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality care. We offer a comfortable and confidential environment where you can discuss your prostate health with our experienced staff.

If you have any questions about prostate care, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to answer your questions and help you make the best decisions for your health.
