What it is: A non-invasive procedure that uses high-energy sound waves
(shock waves) to break up kidney stones into smaller fragments. These smaller
pieces can then easily pass through your urinary tract when you urinate,
alleviating the blockage and pain associated with kidney stones.
Who needs it: Patients with kidney stones that are too large to pass on
their own naturally. Lithotripsy offers a minimally invasive alternative to
traditional surgery for eliminating these painful stones.
Our service: Our urologists use the latest technology to break up
stones
quickly and painlessly.
Laparoscopic Surgery
What it is: A minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses a
laparoscope (a thin, lighted tube with a camera) to examine the organs inside
the abdomen. It can also be used to perform surgery.
Who needs it: Patients with conditions that require surgery, such as
hernias, gallstones, or appendicitis.
Our service: Our experienced surgeons use the latest technology to
perform laparoscopic surgery with precision and care.
Prostate Biopsy
What it is: A minimally invasive procedure used to collect tissue samples
from
the prostate gland. These samples are then examined under a microscope to
diagnose prostate cancer or other abnormalities. A thin needle is typically
inserted through the rectum and into the prostate to obtain the tissue samples.
Who needs it: A prostate biopsy may be recommended if you have an
abnormal
digital rectal exam (DRE) or elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood
test. These tests can indicate an increased risk of prostate cancer, but a
biopsy is the only definitive way to diagnose the disease.
