Options, risks and alternatives set out in writing — including the option to treat conservatively.

Day-case where possible, with a scheduled review and a written discharge summary to your GP.

Before you come
Referrals, preparation and what to bring
Referrals from GPs and other specialists are welcome, and patients may book directly.
What to bring
Any referral letter, scans or blood results you already have, the medicines you are taking, and the name of the clinician who referred you if there is one. Having them at the first visit often avoids repeating an investigation.
These cannot wait for an online booking
Go to the nearest emergency department, or call the centre on +256 771 229 853.
- Complete inability to pass urineAcute urinary retention. A catheter is usually needed, and the sooner the better.
- Severe flank pain with nausea or vomitingPossible obstructing kidney stone. Pain that will not settle needs urgent assessment.
- Heavy or painless blood in the urineVisible bleeding that is heavy, or that appears without pain or infection, needs same-day review.
- Sudden pain or swelling in a testiclePossible testicular torsion. This is a surgical emergency and time matters.
- Fever with flank painPossible infected, obstructed kidney, which can become life-threatening within hours.
- Injury to the kidney, bladder or genitalsBlunt or penetrating trauma needs immediate assessment, even if it looks minor.
